Roy R. Runaldue

Roy Richard Runaldue, age 88, of Taneytown, Md., died on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gettysburg, Pa.
Born August 13, 1920, in Manassas, Virginia, he was the son of the late Harry H. and Effie (Breeden) Runaldue. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Hyde Runaldue on Jan. 11, 2007.
Mr. Runaldue was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during W.W.II in the European theater of operations on B-17 bomber missions. He was a self-employed brick mason for over 35 years. Roy enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling and eating out at local restaurants.
Surviving are sons and spouses, Donald and Mary Ann Runaldue of Ellicott City, Md., Gary and Saundra Runaldue of Charlotte Hall, Md., and Thomas Runaldue and Martha Hogue of Taneytown; a sister and spouse, Virginia Lee and Palmer Smith of Chantilly, Va.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Herbert Runaldue.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, September 10th at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia.
