Rose (Maragos) Keller

January 12, 1941 — July 5, 2015

Rose Kathryne Keller, 74, of Taneytown, Maryland passed away peacefully Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her home.  Born January 12, 1941 in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of Helen (Kostas) Downs of Taneytown and the late James Maragos.  She was the wife of Kenneth Keller, her soulmate and life-long love, whom she met in high school. Rose and Ken were married for 57 years and raised their family in Taneytown.

Rose was the manager of Deer Park Kennel where she worked for more than 20 years prior to her retirement.  She was of the Greek Orthodox faith.  She was a gifted artist, and enjoyed sketching with charcoal and pastels.  She was a member of the American Kennel Club and was an award-winning dog breeder.  She enjoyed rooster and hen collectibles and brass figurines.

Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Keith Keller and wife Susan of Westminster, Gary Keller and wife Isamar of Taneytown, Kenneth Keller, Jr. of Taneytown, Katherine Keller-Smith of Woodsboro, Jamie Keller of Gettysburg, PA, and Clark Keller of Taneytown; brothers, Gerald Maragos and wife Mary of Harrisburg, PA, Kenneth Maragos of Florida, and Donald Tischa of Texas; grandchildren, Brian Keller and fiancée Cindy of Hawaii, Jenna Keller-Shriner and husband Donald of Union Bridge, Joseph Smith of Woodsboro, and Beth Ann and Mackenzie Keller of Westminster; great-grandchildren, Donald Shriner III, Emma Shriner, and Jeremy Keller; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with the Rev. Stephen White officiating.  Interment will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Woodsboro.  The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD, 21157.
