Ronald F. Rodkey

December 2, 1946 — July 18, 2013

Ronald Franklin Rodkey, 66, of Taneytown died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Born December 2, 1946 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Roland and Mary Leppo Rodkey. He was the husband of Joan Warner Rodkey, to whom he was married for 38 years.

Ronnie was a life-long truck driver and drove for Devilbiss Trucking in Union Bridge, the Harvey Salt Company in Baltimore, and Utz Quality Foods in Hanover. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown and was a veteran of the United States Army. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Rhonda Atwell and husband Michael of Taneytown, and Robin DeGroft and husband Jamie of Cave City, KY; sisters, Pat Haines of Westminster, Peggy Warner and husband Sam of Taneytown, and Debbie Stambaugh and husband Barney of Westminster; brothers, Richard Rodkey and wife Emma of Taneytown, and David Rodkey and wife Karen of Littlestown, PA; grandchildren, Riley DeGroft, and Curtis, Leah, and Victoria Atwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22 at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating. Interment will follow in Grace UCC Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
