Taneytown

Ronald T. Putman, 76, of Taneytown, Maryland, died suddenly on Sunday, September 2, 2018 as a result of a motorcycle accident near Marion, Virginia.
Born on July 7, 1942 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Thurston E. and Grace Virginia (Hyser) Putman.
Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He worked as a Barber for many years on John Street in Westminster, and owned apartment rentals in the old Opera House in Taneytown. He was a member of the Harney VFW and the Hesson Snider Post 120 American Legion Taneytown. He was also a member of the Carroll County Gold Wings motorcycle Club and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter F in Hagerstown, Maryland. He loved his pet cats, and currently had rescued a cat named “Tigger”. He will be greatly missed by his many friends. He passed away doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle back from the “Honda Wing Ding” in Knoxville, TN. Ronnie had accumulated nearly 500,000 miles on his motorcycle and was a familiar sight on his yellow Gold Wing at many out-of-State locations to visit friends and attend functions.
He is survived by nephews, Timothy Kelly and wife Barbara of Prescott Valley, AZ and Keith Putman and wife Debbie of Huntsville, AR; and many close friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Putman.
Ron’s wishes were to be cremated with no service or visitation. Burial will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.
