Ronald Cleveland Hammond, Sr., 67, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 10, 1950 in Cassity, WV, he was the son of the late Paul and Virginia (Burkey) Hammond. He was the husband of Frances Christine (Hemler) Hammond, to whom he was married for 39 years.
Ron was a supervisor at Marada Industries in Westminster for many years. He drove a bus for Mother Seton School in Emmitsburg in more recent years until retirement. He enjoyed baking, cooking and watching NASCAR racing. His favorite driver was Tony Stewart. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. More than anything, Ron loved spending time with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Christine, are sons, Ronald Hammond, Jr. of Gettysburg, PA, Michael Hammond of York, PA, and David Hammond and husband Brian Biery of Dillsburg, PA; daughter, Amber Hammond of Taneytown, MD; brother, Robert Clingerman and wife Elaine of Baltimore; grandson, Noah; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Linda Harris and Connie Dingus.
