Charles Ronald Schwinger, 78, of Taneytown, MD, died on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Westminster Healthcare Center. Born February 23, 1939 in Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Francenia (Sites) Becker and Oscar Becker, Sr.. He was the husband of the late Darlene (Glacken) Schwinger.
Ron was a carpenter and builder. He worked at Taney Corporation in Taneytown for 31 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and watching NASCAR races, especially when #3, the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. was driving. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens.
He is survived by brothers, Kenneth Becker and wife Barb of Frederick, MD, Donald Becker and wife Pat of Gettysburg, PA, Richard Becker and wife Debbie of Stanley, VA, and Michael Becker of Waynesboro, PA; sister, Margaret Shank and husband Ray of New Oxford, PA; sisters-in-law, Sharon Summers of Taneytown, Miriam Becker of New Oxford, PA, and Linda Becker of Gettysburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He is also fondly remembered by Bobby, Hayley, and Zach Summers and Kelli Decheubel. He was predeceased by brothers, Oscar Becker, Jr. and Edward Becker, and brother-in-law, Jerry Taylor.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
