Roland L. Blum

July 1, 1934 — February 7, 2013

Roland Lester Blum, 78, of Taneytown died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. Born July 1, 1934 in Patapsco, he was the son of the late Irvin and Lillian Stimax Blum. He was the husband of Mary Plaine Blum, his wife of 40 years.


Roland was a farmer and an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He loved life on the farm.


Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Deborah LaGrave of Roanoke, VA; son, Charles Blum and wife, Nancy, of Finksburg; step-daughter, Julie Ann Robertson of Walkersville; grandsons, Derek Parthree and Robert Blum; step-grandsons, Matthew Wetzel and Joshua Inscoe; great-granddaughter, Kaiya Parthree; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Louise Wirts and Eva Freyman; brothers, Raymond and Edward Blum; and step-grandson, Travis Wetzel.


A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, February 15 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Craig Arentz officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
