Roger Leon Litchfield, 54, of Taneytown died peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD following a valiant battle with cancer. Born May 14, 1964 in Westminster, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Wirtz) Litchfield. He was the devoted husband of his high school sweetheart, Jody (Luhn) Litchfield. They were married for 32 years.
Roger was a graduate of South Carroll High School, class of ’82. He was a Transmission Rebuilder with Westminster Transmission for 22 years and previously worked for Whitcraft Transmission in Reisterstown. He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown. He enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle and bicycles, going to the beach, listening to music -- especially Led Zeppelin, watching NASCAR racing, finding and fixing broken things, camping, campfires and making “Dadoo breakfast” for his grandsons and family. More than anything, Roger loved hanging out with his family and friends.
Roger’s positive attitude and optimistic spirit were an encouragement and inspiration to the many doctors, nurses and caregivers that treated him along the way, as well as to his family members and many friends. His family wishes to express their deep gratitude to everyone who provided care and support during Roger’s illness.
