Robert “Bob” Stewart Seipp, 89, of Westminster, Maryland passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and was currently residing at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Westminster.
Born on March 3, 1931 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Charles L. Seipp (former Westminster City Chief of Police) and Helen (Rhodes) Seipp. He was the devoted husband of Vivian (Hollinger) Seipp, to whom he was married for 68 years.
Robert attended Westminster High School, class of 1948, and after graduation entered the United States Navy where he served aboard a Destroyer as a Fire Control Technician. He was proud of his service, and loved recalling tales of life aboard ship, and the many ports of call visited throughout Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. After being discharged from the Navy he spent 35 years at the Black & Decker manufacturing plant in Hampstead, MD where he worked as a machinist, and then worked as a commercial painter. Robert was a member of the St. Mary’s United Church of Christ in Silver Run and served on numerous committees. He enjoyed painting, and loved to especially paint scenes of Westminster from yesteryears. Robert especially loved spending time with family and friends, and especially his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife Vivian, are his children, Douglas Seipp and wife Leslae of Westminster, Trudy Biden and husband Randy of Conway, SC, and Timothy Seipp and wife Amy of Pasadena, MD; brothers, Earl R. Seipp of Carroll Lutheran Village Westminster and Darryl G. Seipp of Westminster; grandchildren, Brett Seipp, Ryan Seipp and fiancée Kathleen Meren, Brian Seipp, Bob Biden and wife Jen, Beth Custer and husband Carl; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Macayleith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Larue Blizzard; and by brothers, Charles Seipp, Jr., and Jack R. Seipp.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 3-5 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic a private funeral service for family will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sam Chamelin officiating (livestream available to view for those unable to attend at https://www.facebook.com/MDFHWestminster). Private burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Run. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s United Church of Christ, 1441 Mayberry Rd., Westminster, MD 21158.
