Robert Lloyd Zentz, 95, of Sykesville, formerly of Taneytown, died peacefully Monday, January 7, 2013 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born October 25, 1917 in Carroll County, MD, he was the son of the late Jacob Raymond and Mary Ellen Foy Zent. He was the husband of the late Mae Elizabeth Hardman Zentz, who died in August, 2008.
Robert was a real estate and insurance broker for many years. He was the proprietor of Zentz Realty in Taneytown. He was a member of the Westminster Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Taneytown Chamber of Commerce and the Taneytown Lions Club. He enjoyed collecting antique clocks and pocket watches. He was particularly fond of two trips he made to Ireland to visit his cousin.
Surviving are son, Carl Zentz and wife, Chong, of Glenn Dale, MD; daughter, Joyce Schaum of Westminster; grandchildren, Joshua Zentz and wife, Cherrie, of St. Paul, MN, Jeremy Zentz of Oldenburg, IN, Jason Schaum and wife, Bryna, of Abingdon, MD, and Adam Schaum of Virginia, MN; sisters, Dolly Meshejian of AL, and Patricia Sherman of CA; brother, John Zent of AL; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Krotsch, Edith Zentz, Marian Schamel, and Elva Burnham, and brothers, Raymond and Maurice Zent.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Pastor Robert Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the funeral home.
