Robert Daniel Willet, age 83, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his home.
Born July 12, 1928 near Mayberry, Maryland, he was the son of the late Daniel David and Dorothy Mae (Starner) Willet. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Ray Willet on July 23, 2011.
He was a graduate of Taneytown High School, and spent most of his working life as a farmer on the family farm in Tyrone. He also worked for 30 years as a fuel oil truck driver with J.R. Brown and was owner operator of Willet Painting for many years. He was a member of the Frizzellburg Bible Church where he served as Church Treasurer for many years, and the Carroll County Farm Bureau. Robert also enjoyed woodworking, camping, traveling, eating out at restaurants, snow-mobiling, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are a son, Glen A. Willet and wife Barbara of Westminster; daughter-in-law, Nora A. Willet of Taneytown; grandsons, Josh Willet and wife Tracey, Jesse Willet and wife Whitney, Jeremy Willet and wife Kathleen, Justin Willet and fiancée Nicki, and Jordan Willet; great-grandsons, Zachary and Ezekiel Willet.
He was predeceased by a son, James Robert Willet; brother, Norman Willet and by a sister, Ruth Ann Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Frizzellburg Bible Church in Frizzellburg with his pastor the Rev. Andrew Reisberg officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Pleasant Valley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
