Robert J. Whitney, age 89 of Westminster, died Friday June 15, 2012 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. He was born May 27, 1923 in Rochester, New York son of the late Harold and Sara Jonrowe Whitney. He is survived by his loving wife Denneise G. Whitney.
Robert worked as a custodian at Westminster High School and retired from Francis Scott Key High School. He then worked for the CC Farm Museum and Baughers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a life member of the VFW Post 467 in Westminster, member of the Westminster Moose, taught Sunday School at Linwood Church of the Brethren, was a Boy Scout Leader, loved fishing, and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by a daughter, Diana L. Whitney of Baltimore. He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Doris L. Whitney and a brother, Paul Whitney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with the Rev. Larry Adamczyk officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Mem. Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
