Robert Lee Phipps, age 85, of Westminster, Maryland, died on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born July 31, 1925 in Bluefield, West Virginia he was the son of the late Walter and Crise (McMillan) Phipps. He was predeceased by his wife Marie (Green) Phipps in 1995.
Robert was a machinist with Black and Decker and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII.
Surviving are children, Vivian F. Sweeney and Gerry L. Phipps; sisters Velma Mercer and Etta Staulings; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several great-greatgrandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the DeBoard Cemetery in Ashe County, N.C.
