Robert H. “Bob” Oliver, 76, of Monroe, LA, died peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his home in Monroe, LA.
Born on August 20, 1941, in Campti, LA, he was the son of the late Juanita (Barr) and Harry Oliver. He was the husband of 46 years to Emily Devilbiss Oliver.
Bob attended Campti School and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, TX in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963 on the USS Kearsarge. He attended the University of Houston from 1963 to 1965. He was a private pilot instructor in Conroe, TX. He owned and operated Monroe Coffee, Co. from September 1976 until his retirement in May 2001. Bob was an avid hunter and liked fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Lynn Talbert; sisters, Virginia (Richard) Unterborn and Sarah Todd; 3 nephews; 1 niece; uncles, Sam and Crawford Barr; aunt, Ruth (Barr) Allred; numerous cousins and lifelong friend, Tommy Biles.
He was predeceased by his step-father, James I. Wood; grandparents, Dudley and Ida (Brown) Barr, WH & Ida (Burkett) Oliver; and brother-in-law, Darrell Todd.
A Graveside service and inurnment will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Uniontown, MD with the Rev. Anne C. Durboraw officiating. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Salvation Army or Northeast LA War Veterans Home.
