Robert G. Newbern, Jr.

Robert Glenn “Bob” Newbern, Jr., 74, of Taneytown, MD, died on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.  Born February 15, 1946 in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Glenn and Mary Kathryn (Jaudon) Newbern.  He was the devoted husband of Ruth (Spaulding) Newbern, his wife of 51 years.

Bob was a Safety Engineer with the United States Department of Defense.  He enjoyed reading, traveling, and woodworking.  He was a bluebird follower and built many bluebird nesting boxes over the years.  He was an avid fan of the former Washington Redskins.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Ruth, are sons, David Michael Newbern (Lea) of Woodbine,MD, and Mark Andrew Newbern (fiancée Yona Severe) of Gaithersburg, MD; granddaughter, Reagan Newbern; sisters, Rae Mims (Tom) and Terry Jacobson (Seth), all of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID pandemic, services are private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.
