Robert Franklin Myers, 80, of Manchester, Maryland, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born January 10, 1934 in Arcadia, Maryland, he was the son of the late Thomas and Erma Therit Myers. He was the husband of Nancy Lee Gill Myers, his wife of 59 years.
Bob worked as a carpenter for many years, then with the Tevis Company in Westminster for 15 years installing HVAC systems. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens, playing games on his computer, working Sudoku and word search puzzles and spending time with his family and friends. He was gifted and creative with his carpentry and mechanical skills and was always busy working on projects for his family and friends. Bob loved his dogs, Molly and Bubba.
Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy are daughter, Deborah Adkins of Millers; son, Phillip Myers and wife Terri of Westminster; brother, Dennis Myers and wife Linda of Upperco; sisters, Ginny Walsh of Hampstead, Gladys Riley of Manchester, Betty Feeser and husband Kenny, and Sandy Higgins and husband Frank, all of Lineboro, and Dottie Archer of Freeland; grandchildren, Robert Adkins of Millers, Ryan Myers and wife Kelly of Upperco, and Meghan Myers of Westminster; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Shirley Komornik, Barb Hossler and Pat Drechsler, and brothers, Richard, Eddie and Larry Myers.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, Maryland with Pastor Dave Meador of the Carrollton Church of God officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
