Robert William Alwine, age 77, of Thurmont, Maryland died peacefully June 16, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness. Born July 22, 1932 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Maurice W. and Blanche (Jacob) Alwine. He was the husband of the late Norma (Heiner) Alwine.
He was self-employed in the tire service business in the Taneytown area for 45 years, and owned and operated Bob’s Tire Service. He enjoyed his pet animals, especially his cats, goats, and sheep dog “Patches”. Bob enjoyed working in his yard and playing the Lottery.
Surviving are a daughter Sharon R. Kehr of East Berlin, PA; step-children Roxane Warehime and Jeffrey Massimore of Taneytown; sisters Nancy Bechtel of Michigan, Phyllis Buckingham of Texas, and Jeannie Barrett of PA; 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Robert W. Alwine, Jr. and a brother Larry Alwine.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 East Baltimore St., Taneytown with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Uniontown Church of God Cemetery in Uniontown. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
