Richard Lee Spellman, Sr., age 68 of Westminster, Maryland died on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 7, 1948 in West Virginia he was the son of the late Robert Thompson and Alice (Spellman) Thompson. He is survived by his wife Tammy Spellman of Westminster.
He worked as a prison guard for York County, PA, and later for the Westminster city road department.
He is survived by children, Richard Lee Spellman, Jr. and wife Leeann of Union Bridge, Michael Robert Spellman and wife Theresa, Patricia Lynn Spellman, Robert W. Spellman and wife Angel, and Brandy Riddle all of Westminster; adopted son, Michael Rivera and foster daughter, Angie Johnson both of Westminster; brothers, Larry Thompson of W.Va. and Robert Thompson of N.C.; and many grandchildren; former spouse, Wanda Shelton of Union Bridge.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses.
