Richard Ellis Ranoull, age 73, of Sykesville formerly of Westminster, Maryland, died on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Brinton Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sykesville.
Born September 17, 1937 in Westminster, Maryland, he was the son of the late Ellis C. and Emma C. (Baker) Ranoull. He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Shirley Virginia (Rineman) Ranoull in 2006.
Richard worked as a dairy farmer on the family farm for most of his adult life, retiring from farming in 1985, to then work in the Land Management Department with Carroll County Government for 16 years and later as a deli clerk at Martins/Shoppers Food Store for 13 years until retirement. He was a member of St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church in New Windsor, a 4-H Leader and Allstar. He loved painting, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Carol Lynn Bassler and husband Robert E. Jr. of New Windsor, Michelle Annette Will and husband Stephen, Ann Marie Franklin and husband Tom, Sandra Catherine Gugliuzza and husband Philip all of Westminster; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, and John Bassler, Justin Franklin, Melanie, Joshua, and Olivia Gugliuzza; sister, Esther C. Arrington and husband Ray of Frizzellburg; sister-in-law, Barbara Black of Littlestown, PA; a niece and several nephews.
A brother-in-law, George Black predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD with his pastor the Rev. Anne C. Durboraw officiating. Interment will follow in the New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester, MD. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
