Richard Kline Paul, 87, of Taneytown, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster surrounded by his loving family.  Born September 3, 1929 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Earle and Alice (Taylor) Paul.  He was the devoted husband of Nancy (Brandjes) Paul, to whom he was married for 52 years.

Richard was a graduate of  Baltimore Polytech Institute, class of ’48, where he lettered in football, baseball, track & field, and swimming.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.  He became a Sales Representative with Simplex Time Recorder Company in Baltimore, where he worked for more than 20 years, and earned numerous awards as a top salesman.  He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church in Eldersburg, and attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown upon relocating to the Carroll Vista Community.  Richard loved swimming, playing golf, traveling, stamp and coin collecting, and playing piano.  He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the former Baltimore Colts.  He was instrumental in organizing the Freedom Swim Club in Eldersburg.  He loved attending singing competitions with his wife Nancy, who sang with the Dundalk Chapter of Sweet Adelines.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife, are son, Richard “Rick” Paul and wife Cathy of Hanover, PA; daughters, Susan Arrington and husband Wayne of Sykesville, and Elizabeth “Beth” Noss and husband Jason of Taneytown; grandchildren, Steve Paul and wife Angelique of Crofton, MD, Laura Hnatkowicz and husband Randy of York, PA, and David Paul and wife Liz of Fort Riley, KS; and great-grandchildren, Owen, Noah, Madeline, Ben, Genevieve, Jackson, and Anna.  He was predeceased by a sister, Audrey Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with the Rev. Cristopher Frigm officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Interment at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address, or to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD, 21157.
