Richard Anthony “Tink” Ott, Sr., 85, of Thurmont, MD, passed surrounded by family on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Master’s Haven Assisted Living, in Finksburg. Born March 16, 1936 in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Charles Christopher Ott and Virginia Baugher Ott.
Richard was a proud Army veteran, serving from 1954-1957. He worked for St. Joseph’s College, which later became the National Fire Academy, until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, home renovations, coin collecting, learning about military history, and lunches at Wendy’s; a Jr. Cheeseburger, a senior Coke, and a mini Frosty, which he always saved for his grandkids.
Surviving are his children, Richard A. “Tony” Ott Jr. (Lori) of Taneytown, Melanie A. Page (John) of Dallas, TX, Patrick J. Ott (Jordon) of Steven's Point, WI; grandchildren, Richard III, Kiel, Emily, Allison, Tayman, and Rebecca Ott, Cayla Huether, Robert Wilhide (Brooke), Casey Plunkard, Jeremy Page, and Alexandra Lucksted (Bradley); great grandchildren, Nicholas Ott, Logan Wilmoth, and Brynn, Kylie, and Layton Wilhide; and his former spouse, Jenna Lea Ott. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by son, Christopher Glenn Ott, and siblings, Charles R. Ott, John T. “Sonny” Ott, Francis C. “Petie” Ott, and Patricia A. Glass.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 4th at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.myersdurborawfh.com.
