Richard C. Murray, age 83, of Timonium, Maryland, formerly of Westminster, died peacefully Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Bright View Assisted Living at Mays Chapel Ridge in Timonium.
Born February 1, 1930 in Towson, Maryland the son of the late Judge J. Howard Murray and Mary Burns Murray. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Emily Hanna Murray in 2011.
Richard completed his undergraduate at The Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a law degree from University of Maryland School of Law in 1952. He was a member of the Carroll and Baltimore County Bar Associations, Maryland State Bar Association and founder of the Dissenter’s Law Club. He was a settlement master of the Circuit Court of Carroll County and practiced law with the Walsh & Fisher firm in Westminster until 1995 when he went into private practice. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Westminster.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Smith of Clinton, N.Y. and son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Murray of Sterling, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Murray) and James Waesche of Baltimore; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rebecca “Bucky” and John Spicer of Frederick. Also surviving are grandchildren, Alex and Max Smith of Clinton, NY and Kara, Kylie and Kensey Murray all of Sterling, VA; as well as several nieces and a nephew.
He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph H. Murray and sister-in-law, Sally Murray.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Towson, Md.
