Richard Lee Crum, 79, of Emmitsburg, MD, died peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg. Born January 2, 1937 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Alverna (Crum) Hilbert. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Eckenrode) Crum.
Richard was a self-employed auto mechanic, who loved collecting and restoring antique cars. He was a member of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Welk and husband Brian of Strasburg, PA, Cheryl “Sherri” Crum of Emmitsburg, MD, Cathy Ott and husband Joe of Emmitsburg, MD, and Nancy Crum and partner John Kralik of Shamokin, PA; grandchildren, Rich Crum and wife Selima of Washington, D.C., Marsha Kauffman and husband Scott of Lancaster, PA, Robb Beiler and partner Leah of Ephrata, PA, Davie Ott and wife Stephanie of Emmitsburg, MD, Jeremy Crum of Gettysburg, PA, Chris Wright and wife Allie of Hanover, PA, Andy Wright and partner Amanda of Waynesboro, PA, Bill Crum of Hanover, PA, Kevin, and Laura Kate Crum, both of PA, and Adam Crum of TX; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Edward Crum.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, with Pastor Jon R. Greenstone officiating. Interment will follow at Elias Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday.
