Raymond Clarence “Ray” Nevins, 77, of Taneytown, died on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, MD. Born May 11, 1944 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William and Lilla (Titus) Nevins. He was the devoted husband of Donna Jane (Uebel) Nevins.
Ray was a truck driver for ABF Trucking, formerly Carolina Freight, for 40 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed gardening, painting, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Donna, are his son, Keith Nevins of Glen Burnie, MD, and daughter, Michele May and husband Trent of York, PA; step-daughters, Rebecca Jarboe of Baltimore, Deanna Schaeffer and husband Mike Townsend of Taneytown, and Loretta Lash and husband Jim of Taneytown; brothers, William Nevins and wife Mary of Glen Rock, PA, and Earl Nevins of Baltimore; sister, Lilla Messersmith and husband Royce of York, PA; grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, and Justin Jarboe, Sarah and Mitchell Schaeffer, William and Andrew Lash, Alyx and Taylor May, and Kimberly, Joshua, and Jaclyn Nevins; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Celebrant John Morrill officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
