Ralph Linn Tingler, age 89 of Finksburg, died Wednesday July 20, 2011 at Country Care Assisted Living (Bonds Forest) in Finksburg.
He was born September 9, 1921 in Burnt House, West Virginia, the son of the late Homer and Alta Elder Tingler. He was the husband of the late Lenda Mae Thomas Tingler who died in February 2011.
Ralph was an Army veteran of World War II serving during the European Theater and Normandy. He worked as a carpenter in construction. He was a life member of Mt. Zion United Methodist in Finksburg. He was a wood craftsman and enjoyed making furniture and woodcrafts. Ralph was an avid collector of stamps, coins, postcards and antiques.
He is survived by children, Dolly Norris of Hanover, PA, Susan Cornett and husband Hugh of Reisterstown, Mark Tingler and wife Lisa of Finksburg and Ralph Tingler and wife Cathy of Bridgewater, NJ; brother, Glenn Tingler of Dayton, Ohio; also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Blair, Cleo and Berlin Tingler.
A funeral service will be held at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. with his pastor Rev. Dr. Wm. Louis Piel officiating. Interment will follow in Finksburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
