Ralph Laverne Parker Sr., 87, of Taneytown died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Emeritus Senior Living in Hagerstown. Born October 2, 1926 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ethel Crabbs Parker. His mother passed away when Ralph was young. He was raised by his father and step-mother, the late Mildred Parker. He was the husband of the late Dorothy May Foreman Parker who died in 1993.
Ralph ran his own feed supply business for several years before becoming a mill foreman with Southern States Cooperative in Westminster. He later worked for Bare Trucking in Westminster. Ralph enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known as a quiet and gentle man who was very down-to-earth in the way he lived his life.
Surviving are sons, James Parker and wife Diane of Taneytown and Ralph Parker Jr. and wife Victoria of Kingfield, Maine; grandchildren, Susan Weaver and husband Dave of Elkridge, Sharon Scholtze and husband Tim of Westminster, Amy Waybright and husband Ben of Taneytown, Jennifer Parker and boyfriend Dean Creasy of Ocean City, and Kristin Delles and husband David of Fruitland; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by grandson, Jeffrey Parker.
Services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave, Hagerstown, MD, 21742.
