Ralph Irelan, Sr., age 95, of Emmitsburg died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Gettysburg Hospital Center in Gettysburg, PA surrounded by his loving family. Born March 16, 1917 in Mays Landing, NJ, he was the son of the late Frederick Boice & Jenny Aulick Treen Irelan. He was the husband of the late Angela “Ann” Gelwicks Irelan, who died in 1984.
Ralph owned and operated Village Liquors in Emmitsburg for many years. He was an avid Orioles and Colts fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are son, Ralph Irelan, Jr. and wife, Ann of Emmitsburg; daughter, Sylvia Ann “Veets” Diamantini and husband, Jack, of North Hutchinson Island, FL; grandchildren, Christopher Irelan of Cumberland, Mary Trapane & husband, Richard, of Thurmont, Joy Diamantini & husband, Stephen Hobaica, Ph.D., of Germantown, John Diamantini, III & wife, Kimberly, of Oakdale, CT, and Jessica Bonnin & husband, Dean, of Colchester, CT; great-grandchildren, Nicholas & Anna Trapane, Bryce & Chase Bonnin, Dean Bonnin, Jr., and Abigail & Tanner Diamantini; as well as many nieces & nephews. Ralph was predeceased by grandson, Keith Michael Irelan; brothers, Somer, Herbert, Joseph & Edward Irelan; and sisters, Edna Christian, Jenny Hewitt, Esther Trainor, & Helen Thompson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St, Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Dr. David Z. Ring, III officiating. Interment will follow at New St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.
