Ralph A. Dinterman, age 91, of New Oxford, PA, formerly of Taneytown, died on Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Brethren Home at Cross Keys in New Oxford, PA.
Born February 20, 1919 in Rocky Ridge, Frederick, Co., MD, he was the son of the late Roy C. and Nettie (Stambaugh) Dinterman.
Ralph was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taneytown and was a retired U.S. government employee with the soil conservation service. Ralph was a broom maker at the Carroll County Farm Museum for many years. He loved square dancing, playing cards and Dominos, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Joan S. Wilhide and husband Wayne of Keymar, MD, and Diana A. Keyser and husband Brian of Hagerstown; sister, Anna Belle Houck of Rocky Ridge; grandchildren, Kristina Athey, Tim Keyser, Marsha McNeil, Stephanie Savick, Steve Wilhide, and Vincent Wilhide; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Leroy Dinterman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 East Baltimore St. Taneytown with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown.
