Preston C. Crowl, age 87 of Westminster, died Sunday November 25, 2012 at Westminster Ridge. He was born March 25, 1925 in Union Mills, son of the late William and Eva Flickinger Crowl. He was the husband of Ethel L. Gesell Crowl, his wife of 65 years.
Preston served in the Navy during World War II. He retired in 1988 from the Carroll County Public Schools as a plumber. He was a member of St. Mary’s United Church of Christ, the American Legion Post #31 and the V.F.W. Post #467. He enjoyed woodworking, attending auctions, playing cards and bingo and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Deborah Lynn Messinger and husband, Charles of Hanover, PA, Cynthia Lou Crowl of Owings Mills and Thomas Allen Crowl and wife, Dierdre of Westminster; sister, Betty Louise Lippy of Westminster; grandson, Cameron Thomas Crowl of Westminster; also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, Ruth Feeser, Mary Blessing, Pauline Fritz, Sterling, Benjamin, Leslie, Irvin, Guy, Chester and Norman Crowl.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M, on Saturday December 1, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Dr. Richard W. Scott officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Run.
The family will receive friends Friday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
