L. Pauline “Polly” Hurst, age 91, of Taneytown, Maryland, died on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Westminster, Maryland.
Born September 21, 1919 in Dandridge, TN, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Roxy Lane Thomas. She was the wife of the late William L. Hurst to whom she was married 63 years.
She was a homemaker and member of Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church near Emmitsburg, MD. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, participating in activities at the church and the Emmitsburg Senior Center, and spending time with her many grandchildren.
Surviving are son, Bob Hurst and wife Elza of Taneytown; daughter, Zonnie Ayton and husband Pete of Laytonsville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by daughter, Carolyn Jones; sister, Eula Funkhouse; and brothers, Garfield & James Thomas.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Rev. Judith Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery in Keysville, MD. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
