Phyllis Ray Wilson, age 68, of Sykesville, Maryland, died on Friday, January 27, 2012 at home.
Born January 5, 1944 in Charlottesville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Louise Null and Forest Ray Cook. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Marion Wayne Wilson.
Phyllis attended Westminster High School Class of 1962. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was an FCC licensed amateur radio operator and was a member of the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club and the American Radio Relay League. In the 1970’s she enjoyed participating in powder puff drag racing.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Denise Renee Wilson and her husband Gregg Cooke; and granddaughter Leah Dianne Cooke all of Chicago, IL.; sisters, Jane Bankert and Dianne Anderson of Gettysburg, PA; brother, Forrest G. Cook of Haymarket, VA; mother-in-law, Dorothy Wilson Eby of Westminster; brother-in-law, Gary Lee Wilson of Westminster; and sister-in-law, Linda Denise Beadel of Parkland, FL.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, Maryland with Pastor Garry Sheaffer of Bethel Assembly of God in Littlestown officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
