Phyllis T. Manger, 90, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester, MD. Born November 28, 1925 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Hesson) Crandell. She was the wife of the late Joseph Clayton Manger, Jr.
Phyllis was a Customer Service Representative for Carroll County Bank and BB&T. She was a graduate of Westminster High School, and attended Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster where she was active in the Ladies’ Sodality. She was a member of the Westminster Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and Westminster American Legion Post #31 Auxiliary. Phyllis was very artistic. She enjoyed painting and was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed spending time with family, and was a devoted caregiver for her mother and husband for many years.
Surviving are daughter, Ronelle “Ronney” Manger of Westminster; sons, Joseph C. Manger III and fiancée Tammy Alban of Upperco, and Jack E. Manger and wife Patty of Eldersburg; grandchildren, Shelley Yingling, Christopher Yingling and wife Heather, Sheilah Keefer and husband Jeff, and Breanna Manger; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Jack Crandell, who was killed in WWII, and Charles Crandell, who died as result of an accident aboard the USS Darby in 1960.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD, with the Rev. Isaac Karoor as celebrant. Interment will follow at Krider’s Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD.
