Phillip Pasquale Cassara, 85, of Westminster, MD and formerly of Taneytown, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born January 14, 1928 in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Carrie Shelner Cassara. He was the husband of Marilyn Lance Cassara, his wife of more than 40 years.
Phillip earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at M.I.T. and worked at Goddard Space Center. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Scott Cassara of Keller, TX; daughters Karen Luna of South Riding, VA, Mindy Scott of Aldie, VA, Nancy Somers of Olney, MD, and Amy Trost of Mukilteo, WA; and ten grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 W. Frederick St, Taneytown, MD with Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrant. Interment will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD.
