Philip D. Cunningham, age 67 of Westminster, died Wednesday May 27, 2009 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was born February 19, 1942 in Boston, MA the son of the late Richard T. and Esther Simmons Cunningham. He was the devoted husband of Virginia Miller Cunningham, his wife of 13 years. He served our country as a Marine in Southeast Asia. He truly loved the United States of America. He was a member of AA and of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. He loved spending time with his four grandsons. He was an avid NASCAR and stockcar racing fan, having gone to many races when he lived in Georgia. He discovered his love of carving waterfowl and birds in the last 5 years and has been awarded several ribbons for his work. He owned his own construction company in Massachusetts for 30 years before moving to Maryland. In Maryland he and his brother, Robert had a construction company for 2 years. He went into home improvement sales and also joined his wife as a real estate team. They were awarded the Best Real Estate Team in Carroll County in 1995.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Colleen Cordoix of Walpole, MA, Kerry Eggers of Florida and son, Kevin Cunningham of Maine; brothers, John F. Cunningham of Weymouth, MA and Robert L. Cunningham of Little Rock, AR; sisters, Joan M. Reilly and Rita D. Gray of Natalia, TX; step-daughters, Marguerite White, Karen Govern and Jeanne Porter; step-sons, Willy White and James Porter; grandsons, Jack, Brett and Nathan Govern and John Porter.
A memorial service will be held Saturday 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 17 Bond Street, Westminster with his pastors, Rev. Marty Kuchma and Rev. Lucy Brady officiating. A reception will follow the service.

Arrangements are by the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
