Paul "Doug" Bare

Paul Douglas “Doug” Bare, 71, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at his home.  Born August 3, 1946 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of Janet (Rhoten) Bare of Hampstead and the late Paul Richard Bare.  He was the husband of Dorothy “Dottie” (Hypes) Bare, to whom he was married for 44 years.

Doug was Parts Manager at Bare Trucking Center in Westminster, where he was employed for 39 years.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Viet Nam War.  He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown where he formerly served on the Church Council.  Doug served over the years at Hampstead, Taneytown and Harney Volunteer Fire Companies, where he filled many roles, including Assistant Chief, Captain, Lieutenant and Second Vice President.  He was a member of Hesson-Snider American Legion Post 120 in Taneytown.  He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandson.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother are sons, Craig and Kevin Bare of Taneytown; grandson, Colton Luke Bare; sister, Peggy Wilfong and husband Mike of Hampstead; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Kushner and husband Jeff of FL, Shirley Wolfe and husband Ronnie of PA; Arthur Hypes and wife Cathy of Westminster, and Barbara Shelton and husband Mike of Manchester; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787 with the Rev. Cristopher D. Frigm and Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, February 2nd at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  A Fire Company memorial will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
