Paul Brown

Paul Russell Brown, 72, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA.  Born December 20, 1945 in Thurmont, MD, he was the son of the late Russell Brown and Elizabeth (Yingling) Brice.  He was the devoted husband of the late Nannette Carole Brown, the love of his life, to whom he was married for 50 years.

Paul was a grocery market manager for almost 40 years at several different stores in the area, most recently Nell’s Market in Hanover, PA, where he was the Assistant Manager.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown.  He enjoyed sports and played softball during his younger years.  He was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, the Baltimore Orioles and Mount St. Mary’s basketball.  He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and the Indian Guides when his children were young.  He enjoyed traveling, eating out and attending horse races.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are sons Jeffrey Paul Brown and wife Cindy of Savannah, GA, Scott Christopher Brown and wife Addie of York, PA, and Marty William Brown and wife Kristy of Waynesboro, PA; daughter, Stephani Carole Stine of Waynesboro, PA; sister, Debbie Muller of Absecon, NJ; grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Tyler, Jacob, Karlee, Kaylie, and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD 21787 with his pastor, the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating.  Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens near Frederick.  There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to Grace United Church of Christ at the above address or to St. Labre Indian School, P.O. Box 216, Ashland, MT 59004.  Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown, MD.
