Patty Lou Glass McGlaughlin, 74, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 11, 1942 in Emmitsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Kermit and Della (Gladhill) Glass. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis M. McGlaughlin, Sr.
Patty graduated from Emmitsburg High School Class of 1961 and also Waynesboro Beauty Culture School in 1962. She worked for 10 years in the book store at Mt. St. Mary’s University. She was a member of Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg and a member of the Emmitsburg High School Alumni Association. Patty contracted rheumatic fever at the age of 12. She became a true inspiration to her family and friends with her continued courage and determination to live a normal healthy life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Dennis M. McGlaughlin, Jr. of Emmitsburg; granddaughters, Tabitha Dick of PA and Ashley McGlaughlin of Thurmont; grandsons, Andrew McGlaughlin of MD and Charles D. McGlaughlin of Emmitsburg; great-granddaughters, Savannah, Ayva, and Olivia Dick; step-grandsons, Robbie and Chris Lowery; brothers, Jim Glass and wife Doris of Emmitsburg, Gary Glass and wife Wanda of Thurmont, Larry Glass and wife Sue of Emmitsburg, Mike Glass and wife Barb of Arendtsville; sisters, Betty Ann Mumma of Rocky Ridge, Velma Stambaugh of Emmitsburg, Nancy Baker of Thurmont; sisters-in-law, Susan Sanders of Emmitsburg and Mary Glass of Emmitsburg; brother-in-law, Leroy Coshun of Keysville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Doris McGlaughlin of Gettysburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, John Kermit McGlaughlin, Sr.; grandson, John Kermit McGlaughlin, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Coshun; brother, Bill Glass; brothers-in-law, Bobby Mumma, Fred Stambaugh, Morris Baker, and Jimmy Sanders.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church, 10926 Simmons Rd., Emmitsburg with Rev. Heath Wilson and Rev. Elza Hurst co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Keysville Union Cemetery in Keymar. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
