Patricia Ann (Swiston) Nieberlein

October 17, 1936 — February 3, 2017

Patricia Ann Nieberlein, 80, of Westminster, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 3, 2017.

Born October 17, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bozak) Swiston.

Pat was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster.  She worked as an administrative assistant for over 20 years with the Social Security Administration.  She volunteered with Westminster United Methodist soup kitchen, Arc of Carroll County, and Change Inc., and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society.  Pat was the matriarch of the family devoted to attending all of her sons sporting events from grade school thru college, while caring for her twin daughters.

Surviving her are children, Gene Nieberlein, Jr. and wife Lisa Cameron of Milltown, NJ, Denise Nieberlein of Westminster, Patrice Nieberlein of Westminster, Chris Nieberlein and wife Michele of Finksburg, Rob Nieberlein and wife Kristin of Cockeysville, Kirk Nieberlein and wife Anne of Parkton, and Karl Nieberlein and wife Wendy of White Hall; grandchildren, Jessica Dickens and husband Nick Dickens, Nick, Erin, Kara, Alek, Kayla, and Gabrielle Nieberlein, and Christine Cameron; great-grandson, Colton Dickens; former spouse, Eugene Carl Nieberlein of Ellicott City, MD.  She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Swiston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster with Rev. Christopher DeLeon as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to one of the following organizations:  Arc of Carroll County, 180 Kriders Church Road, Westminster, MD  21158; Change, Inc., 115 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD  21157; or to the Alzheimer’s Association 1850 York Rd, Suite D, Timonium, MD  21093 (alzfdn.org).
