Olen Calvin “Plink” Stewart, 98, of the Carroll Vista community in Taneytown, Maryland formerly of Taylorsville, died peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.

Born on December 11, 1918 in Pickens County, S.C., he was the son of the late Glen and Nora (Hendricks) Stewart.  He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy A. (Crafton) Stewart.

Olen was a veteran of W.W.II and served in the U.S. Army while stationed in Pomona, CA.  He worked as an installer and inspector for ADT security systems.  He helped with the installation of security systems at the Presidential retreat Camp David near Thurmont.  He loved gardening, sharing a good story, and in later years trips with family to Massanutten, VA.

Surviving are daughter, Carol Deibel of Taneytown; grandson, Ronald Franklin of AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by brothers, Dennis and Garvin Stewart and sisters, Leola Hill and Willie Mae Bell.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the funeral home.  Graveside services with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
