Noah Junior “Junnie” Newman, Jr., 88, of Westminster, died early Friday morning, June 16, 2017 at his home with his caregiver, Lesa Becker, by his side.
Born December 28, 1929 in Union Mills, he was the son of the late Noah Newman, Sr. and Hilda R. Henry Newman. He was the husband of 62 years to the late Hilda Bell Gist Newman, who predeceased him in 2011.
Junnie served in the U.S. Army, receiving a Honorable Medical Discharge. He retired from Brooks Shoe Factory in Hanover and then Weis Market in Westminster. He enjoyed watching the Orioles and Ravens and game shows on TV. In his younger years he enjoyed dancing and farming (he loved animals), gardening and his pumpkin patch.
He is survived by his brother, Stewart Newman of Hanover, PA; cousin, Phil Raber and his wife, Barbara, of Hanover, PA, and his devoted caregiver, Lesa Becker of Westminster. He was also predeceased by his brother, Earl Newman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 19th, from the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St, Westminster, with Reverend David R. Bare officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Silver Run.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Donations may be made in his name to the funeral home to assist in final expenses.
