Nina Leen Smeak

Nina Leen Smeak, 75, of Littlestown, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg. Born September 16, 1948, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Harold and Gladys Mae Bell. She was the beloved wife of David Leroy Smeak Jr., married November 26, 1966.

Nina was vibrant, friendly, and outgoing, making many close connections with the people in her life. She was an employee of Taneytown, MD, as an Administrative Assistant, retiring in 2018 after 38 years with the City. She was a member of the American Legion Post 120 Auxiliary for 52 years, and a member of Messiah United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, was an avid reader, and loved playing golf. Most of all, she loved her family, and was the very proud “Nee-Nee” of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nina is survived by her husband, Leroy; children, Kelly (Jeff) Stitely of Taneytown, Kristy (Dave) Porter of Monroeville PA, and Kevin (Darbye) Smeak of Littlestown; grandchildren, Chloe (Jared) Staub of Union Bridge MD, Claire Stitely of Taneytown, Jonathan, and Sarah Porter of Monroeville PA, Dylan, and Abbey Smeak of Littlestown; great grandchildren, Peyton, and Graham Staub of Union Bridge MD; siblings, Etta (Jim) McKinney of Union Bridge, Terry (Elda) Bell of McKinney TX, and Susan Click of Newport TN; sisters in law, Brenda Hyman of Buffalo NY, and Debbie (Jeff) Bankert of Mt. Airy MD; Uncle, Arvin Bollinger of Taneytown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nina was predeceased by brothers in law, John Click, Joel Hyman; and in laws, David and Helen Smeak Sr.

A funeral service will be held 12 pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore St., Taneytown, 21787. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nina’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
