Nicholas Adam DeRita, age 79, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home. Born January 15, 1935 in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Dominick and Theresa Lombardi DeRita. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ollie Catherine (Rowe) DeRita.
He loved bowling and working on cars. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, boating, fishing, and hunting. Nick loved his pet dog chihuahua named “Angel”.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, David DeRita of PA, Nicholas DeRita, Jr. of Westminster, and Jerry DeRita and wife Barbara of Aspers, PA; grandchildren, Amanda Bryson, Sara, Nicholas III, Ronald, Renee, Nichole, Daisah, Jerry, Jr., and Justin DeRita, and Brandon Robertson; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Angelo DeRita of PA, Richard DeRita of PA, Joseph DeRita of Westminster, and Dominick DeRita, Jr. of Taneytown; sisters, Jeanie DeRita of PA, and Dolly DeRita of PA.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Mr. Darrell Smith officiating. Burial will be private in Clustered Spires Cemetery in Frederick. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
