Nelda Jean Welds

We are sad to announce the passing of Nelda (Nana) Jean Welds of Westminster Maryland.

She died at the age of 92 on June 4th, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones and our family parish priest, ending a long, gentle life well-lived.  Nana was best known in her roles as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was dearly loved by her family.  She is survived by her children Ron Welds, Donna and her son-in-law, Joe Parker of Westminster Maryland as well as her grandchildren Rachel and Andrew Muñoz and Stephanie and Jared MacKenzie.  Her great grandchildren were a constant source of joy and include: Logan, Claire, Chloe, Luke, Celine and Leo Muñoz and Emma Gordon, Wyatt and Jackson Parker and James and Henry MacKenzie.

Nelda was a school teacher at Tyee Park Elementary School for 35 years and was especially fond of her school in Lakewood Washington. Her hobbies included writing poetry, bird watching, reading and watching science fiction and learning all about the origins of the universe. While we are all deeply saddened by her passing and will miss her fiercely, we are grateful for her beautiful impact on all the lives she touched and we have faith that we will all be together again one day.
