Nancy Lou Bailey, age 64, of Silver Run, Maryland, died suddenly on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster from complications following a two year battle with cancer.
Born June 14, 1950 in York, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hattie Elnora (Miller) Knisely. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, Gordon R. Bailey.
Nancy graduated from Gettysburg College and later received her Masters from Towson University in Library Science. She was retired as an elementary school media specialist with the Montgomery County Public School System in January of this year. She loved working with elementary school children in the library. She was a life-long member of St. Mary’s United Church of Christ in Silver Run where she was active in the church choir. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, shopping for others, and the theater.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Deborah E. Bailey of Westminster and Laura A. Bailey of Santa Fe, New Mexico; granddaughter, Kailyn L. Boyle; siblings, Charles Knisely of Lewisberg, PA, Mark Knisely of Rochester, NY, Linda Knisely of Arnold, MD, Virginia Knisely of Philadelphia, PA, and David Knisely of Boston, MA; mother-in-law, Thelma Jean Goodwin of Westminster; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the St. Mary’s United Church of Christ in Silver Run with Rev. Patricia Barth officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster and on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
