Nancy Katherine “Kay” Hollinger, age 107, died Tuesday July 31, 2012 at Fairhaven Retirement Village in Sykesville, MD. She was born July 16, 1905 in Grayson, KY, daughter of the late Dexter and Sarah Martha Dickson Hamon. She was the wife of the late K. Ray Hollinger, whom she married on September 29, 1926. Her family moved to Indiana in 1907, and she attended schools in Indiana and Ohio. She was a graduate of Richmond Business College and worked for Richmond Electric Company.
Nancy and her husband lived in Dayton, OH, Clarendon, VA and Baltimore, MD before moving to Westminster in 1938. She was an active member of the Westminster Church of the Brethren and the Congregational Church of Ft. Lauderdale. She was past president of the Carroll County Garden Club and had been a director and officer of Davis Buick. Since she and her husband returned to Westminster from retirement in Florida in 1996, she had been living at Fairhaven.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Richard Myerly of Oberlin, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Pat Roop Hollinger
of Westminster; daughter-in-law, Joan Royer Hollinger of Westminster; also survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandsons.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son, S. Ray Hollinger, sister, Hazel Hamon, brothers, Lawrence and Samuel Hamon.
A public memorial and celebration of life service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Saturday August 4, 2012 at Westminster Church of the Brethren, Bond & Park Streets, Westminster with Jim Benedict, Pastor of Union Bridge Church of the Brethren officiating. Private interment will be held at another time.
The family will receive friends following the service.
