Murray P. Tomlin, age 89, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Emmitsburg.
Born May 17, 1923 in Frederick, Maryland he was the son of the late Lewis Daniel and Phoebe Mae (Fogle) Tomlin. He was predeceased by his 2nd wife, Lillian Peterson Tomlin.
Murray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII on the U.S.S. New York. He worked as a quality control expert with Bendix Corp. in Towson for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time on the Potomac River fishing and water skiing.
Surviving are children, Lynn Weaver and husband Dale, Nancy Starner and husband Robert, Reed Tomlin, Cathy Tibbs, Brian Tomlin and wife Karla, and Laurie Waldrup all of Westminster; former spouse, Peggy Tomlin of Westminster; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by siblings, John Tomlin, Irene Tomlin, and Minnie Cochise.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Services and interment with military honors will be private in the Westminster Cemetery.
