Mildred Irene Sell

Mildred Irene Sell, 96, of New Oxford, PA, died on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Cross Key Village in New Oxford.  Born April 18, 1925 in Akron, OH, she was the youngest child and only daughter of the late William and Grace (Auman) Sell.

Mildred was a daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and great-aunt.   She grew up and attended school in Akron.  She graduated from South High School, then worked for the Bell Phone Company as a draftsperson during the World War II.

After the war she moved to Taneytown, MD with her parents and brother.  In Taneytown, she worked for the Cambridge Rubber Company, and later secured a position with Carroll County government in Westminster.  There she eventually returned to a position in drafting.  She retired in the early 90s and relocated to Hanover, PA and later to Cross Keys Village in New Oxford, PA.

Mildred always enjoyed music and took great pride in playing the piano.  She also loved crafts, and created many lovely toile painting pieces and sewing, knitted and crocheted items for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Sell.  She is survived by her niece, Donna Macola and husband Joe, their 2 daughters and 4 grandsons, as well as her cousins and their families, Bobbie Hartwell of Florida, Pat Mayer of Ohio and Lisa Davis of Arizona.

A private graveside service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mildred’s name to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD 21787.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.
