Mildred Dickensheets Lambert, age 90 of Gettysburg, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village in Gettysburg, PA. She was born April 16, 1921 in Union Bridge, daughter of the late William and Rosie Goodwin DIckensheets. She was the wife of Kenneth R. Lambert, her husband of 72 years.
Mrs. Lambert and her husband had been residents of Taneytown for 62 years. They moved to the Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village in 2002.
Mrs. Lambert had been employed by Thomas, Bennett and Hunter in Westminster for 10 years. She also worked in banking for 25 years, retiring from Union National Bank in Westminster in 1982.
She was a member of Emmanuel (Baust) Lutheran Church in Tyrone, MD. She was also a member of the Taneytown Senior Citizens (Trinity Lutheran Club). She was a graduate of New Windsor High School, class of 1938.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Pat McEllroy, and her husband, Rev. Robert S. McEllroy, III of Bendersville, PA; one granddaughter, Lara Huffman and her husband, Norman of Littlestown, PA; one grandson, Shawn Null and his wife, Katrina of Baltimore County, MD; six great-grandchildren, Noell, Luke, Jacob, TJ, Gracie and Zak; brother-in-law, George S. Lambert and wife, Nancy; also a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Catherine Putman and Dorothy Flickinger.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Robert S. McEllroy, III officiating.
Interment will follow in Emmanuel (Baust) Cemetery, Tyrone, MD.
The family will receive friends Friday 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
