Michael Charles "Mike" Smith, age 68, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015 at his residential care home. Born September 2, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Fern L. and Gertrude C. (Armacost) Smith.
Mikey, as he was affectionately known, was awarded with several special achievements over the years from the ARC of Carroll County and Chimes. In 1999, he was resident of the year; in 2006 he was presented with grateful appreciation for outstanding support of people with disabilities; in 2007, he earned an outstanding achievement for attending all of his doctor’s appointments for 1 year. He was also recognized for 25 years of service with Summer Enterprises. He worked as an assembly line worker for both Black & Decker and Walmart. Though Michael Charles Smith was considered disabled, one thing is for sure - Mike was our greatest teacher of unconditional love & acceptance, reaching as low as his old pony and as high as JESUS his creator. Lest we forget, Michael's wisdom and love inspired everyone he met, especially his nieces and nephews.
