Michael Jay Mann, age 69, of Westminster, Maryland, died on July 4, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born October 22, 1945, at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Russell Augusta Mann and Ruth (Cooke) Mann. He was the husband of Ann Starner Mann, his wife of 45 years.
He was a 1963 graduate of Westminster High School. He served in the United States Army Security Agency from August 1963 to January 1972. This service earned him the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for duty on the DMZ of Korea, the Army Good Conduct Medal with two loops, the Korean Defense Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Cold War Victory Commemorative Medal, the Combat Service Commemorative Medal, and the Honorable Discharge Commemorative Medal. He worked for the Carroll County government from 1973 to 1978. He was a real estate broker from 1979 to 1983. From 1984 to 2002 he was a salesman and finance manager for several local car dealerships. From 2003 until retirement in 2009, he worked at the Bon Ton department store in Hanover, Pa. He was a life member of the VFW Moleville Farm Post 467. He loved playing golf and studying history. He was a collector of stamps, NASCAR miniatures and Civil War memorabilia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Susan Mann of Laurel, Md., and several nephews and a niece.
There will be no viewing or funeral service. Inurnment will be private.
